Setting the Scene: Downtown Venue with a Twist
Some weddings are quiet poetry. Jacqueline and Ricardo’s was a whole symphony.. minimalist in form, but deeply personal in meaning.
They chose to say their vows in the sacred stillness of the Rothko Chapel, a space that asks for reverence over spectacle. Photography is not allowed inside, which meant every guest was truly present. A sound bath anchored the ceremony in intention, and the only flowers allowed—a single sculptural arrangement in bold, celebratory red – paid homage to Jacqueline’s Vietnamese heritage, where red symbolizes joy and prosperity.

Jacqueline and Ricardo kicked off their reception with a personal tradition – shotgunning a beer together – and closed it with another favorite: hot toddies passed among candlelight. In between, guests were treated to a surprise performance by dragon dancers, a nod to the couple’s love of bringing joy and wow-factor to those they love.

The Florals: Minimalist Warm Tones
When the ceremony concluded, silence gave way to song: a mariachi band burst into melody outside the chapel, a nod to Ricardo’s roots, and led guests in a jubilant parade down the street to the reception at Bistro Menil.
The celebration there kept with the minimalist spirit – but not without color. Ikebana-style arrangements in red, orange, pink, and just a whisper of yellow punctuated the tables. Every element felt curated, meaningful, and untraditional in the most refreshing way.

We were honored to flower for a wedding that felt less like a production and more like a shared meditation on love, identity, and the beauty of doing things your own way.
